Ergothionin – látka z hub nazývaná „vitamín dlouhověkosti“ – v experimentu na starých potkanech zvýšila svalovou hladinu NAD+, podpořila vytrvalost a podpořila tvorbu cév. Účinek byl připsán zvýšené tvorbě vodíkového síru (H₂S) a aktivaci enzymu cGPDH; však jde stále jen o preklinické studie na zvířatech.
