Air Hidrogen Gagal: Penanda Kerusakan Oksidatif Meningkat dalam Uji Klinis

Air kaya hidrogen dipasarkan sebagai cara mudah meningkatkan antioksidan, namun sebuah uji acak, buta, pada penderita penyakit ketinggian kronis menemukan hasil yang berlawanan. Setelah 8 minggu mengonsumsi 990 mL/hari, kadar MDA pada kelompok hidrogen – penanda kerusakan oksidatif – naik lebih tinggi daripada plasebo, dengan selisih +2,11 (p < 0,001). Total kapasitas antioksidan juga meningkat, dan kenaikan MDA lebih jelas pada peserta dengan BMI ≥ 24. Efek samping terjadi lebih sering pada kelompok air hidrogen (50 % vs 37 %), terutama pusing. Karena studi ini kecil dan hanya melibatkan pasien di ketinggian, berikut apa yang dapat dan tidak dapat disimpulkan bagi para penggemar air hidrogen.
