Studija objavljena u časopisu *Cell* otkriva da razine taurina u krvi rastu kako kod ljudi, tako i kod miševa, a dodatni unos taurina produžio je životni vijek i smanjio smrtnost od sepse kod starijih životinja. Istraživanje je također predložilo mehanizam kroz koji makrofagi otpuštaju taurin kao signal opasnosti, što aktivira NLRP3 inflammasom, dok povratak taurina u stanicu ublažava alarm. Ljudski podaci su samo promatrački, a rad ne testira doze suplementacije kod ljudi.
