Hořčíkový doplněk Magtein (magnesium‑L‑threonát) byl testován v malé randomizované studii na 83 pacientech s pokročilou rakovinou. Během 90 dnů snížil nárůst denní dávky morfinu téměř o polovinu a zároveň zmírnil opioidně‑vyvolanou zácpu. Studie však proběhla v jediném čínském centru a zahrnovala úzce definovanou skupinu pacientů, takže výsledky je třeba brát opatrně a vždy je konzultovat s lékařem.
