Yaşlandıkça sessizce yok olan bir bağırsak mikrobu, düşündüğümüzden çok daha fazlasını yapıyor olabilir. *Nature Aging* dergisindeki yeni bir çalışma, Bifidobacterium pseudocatenulatum’un Çin’deki çeşitli yaş gruplarında sürekli azaldığını gösterdi. Doğal olarak yaşlanmış farelere ağızdan verildiğinde, çoklu organlardaki inflamyaşı hafifledi ve sağlık ömrü uzadı. Etkinin bir kısmı, insanlarda da yaşla birlikte azalması gözlenen 5‑AVAB adlı metabolite bağlandı.
