PB125 adlı biberiye, ashwagandha ve luteolin içeren bitkisel Nrf2 aktivatörü, 24‑yaşındaki gönüllülerde iki hafta 200 mg/gün dozunda kullanıldıktan sonra kol FMD'sini %2,8'den %3,8'e, diz kapağı (popliteal) FMD'sini ise %1,5'ten %2,3'e yükseltti. Beş günlük yatak istirahati sürecinde bu karışım, plasebo grubuna kıyasla damar fonksiyonunu ve antioksidan seviyelerini korudu. Genç yetişkinlerde bazal bir FMD artışı görülmemiş olsa da, PB125 kısıtlı hareket döneminde popliteal FMD'yi korudu. Sadece 44 katılımcı ve dolaylı ölçütlerle yapılan bu çalışma, klinik faydanın kanıtı değil, umut verici bir sinyal sunuyor.
